A Facebook group under the name of 'BrownSense' has showed what Ubuntu is after helping a young woman on Mandela Day. A young woman by the name of Lorraine took to Facebook to ask members of the group to donate at least R67, in the spirit of Mandela Day, to help her pay up her student debt which amounts to R43 000.

The young woman who studies a bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering at the University of Johannesburg received huge support from Brownsense — a community of Black entrepreneurs, who call themselves 'Brownies'.

Brownies donated their R67, with some going above and beyond for the young woman, donating more that what she had asked for, to help her settle her student's debt and gain access to her academic results.

Lorraine stated that her results were being withheld by the university, and this made things difficult for her. She further expressed her frustration at NSFAS, stating that her application had been dismissed by the financial aid scheme and that this had caused problems for her, with regard to obtaining her academic outcomes.

Lorraine posted her academic details including her student number and student account details, to make the process easy and to help those who wanted to verify, that she's who she claims she is.

Few minutes later after posting her request, Brownies were geared up to help the young lady, posting screenshots of their payments. After witnessing this great gesture by fellow Brownies, one Brownie from the group said: “This is what I call love in action. I pray we pass it on. God bless you Ma-Afrika!
